PHOTO #153 -- DR. FRANK STANTON
Dr. Frank Stanton
This is a photo of Mr. Frank Stanton. He was President of CBS
from 1946-73. I got this picture from a Newsweek magazine. September 25,
2000, issue. I stole it from my doctors office magazine. I despise people
that do that...really. But, this is one of my hero's. The other of course was
Mr. William Paley, who was a father to all our good fortune.
This man's leadership put us in the fore front of the television industry. He
was tough, but fair. He also respected technicians, if Burt Grady were still
alive he could tell a wonderful story about Mr. Stanton. It had to do with
Burt's, cigars, and his feet being propped up on the console edge in master
control...all with the permission of Mr. Stanton.
This Newsweek article is about the, "The First Debate Over Presidential
Debates" I thought the man was dead, but apparently his death
was slightly exaggerated, (as Samuel Clemens, 'Mark Twain) would have written.
I was not able to capture the text for you, but I thought a picture of this
giant would look good on our WEB page.
