name: 07 USS Enterprise Carrier Kennenedy aboard 1962
On April 11, 1962, after breaking down the Master's Tournament, they gathered a crew and our remote trucks to fly to Norfolk Virginia and load the trucks on a Navy barge. We, the crew, had been on the tug attached to the barge.
You can see the CBS crew, at various sections of the tugboat, attached to the barge. The Enterprise was the first huge atomic aircraft carrier, and when we finally boarded the carrier out in the bay, we set up camera's etc. at various area's on the carrier. John F. Kennedy was on board with many dignitaries and we had been out off the coast of North Carolina about 300 miles... I think the whole pacific fleet was out with us for the war games. The top speed of the Enterprise was 40 knots, and it had been loaded with the new Grumman jets at that time.We slept under the flight deck, where they hit the stopping cable upon striking the deck.It was too exciting an experience for us all at that time. I guess we had been recording this for the Navy and maybe (somewhere) there must be a file at Broadcast center. We had been out for about a week...good thing I had my Navy sea legs.
No still cameras ...so no photos except the barge, trucks and tugboat.
